F**k My Life?

April 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Life could be stressful, demanding, fast paced and ironic. Things that you hope will happen never take place while the ones you dread and fear fall on your lap without one looking for it. What to do then when your life is going downhill and things couldn’t get worse?

Post your misfortunes on the web! Seriously, post it on the web and let the world know how miserable you are. In order to be more specific, post them on www.fmylife.com.

This site, which motto is “My life sucks but I don’t give a F**k”, is the perfect outlet for one’s anger, frustration, shame, resentment and discomfort. It’s the safest way of doing all of the above. One doesn’t have to yell at the boss, significant other, family member, dog, cat, neighbor, fellow drivers, traffic light, or the decaying stock market to “let it all out”. With just a few strokes of one’s fingers on the keyboard the mind gets rid of the heavy burden without the risk of being fired, knocked out or becoming single.

This site is nothing out of the ordinary, aesthetically speaking. It’s just a page with pale, light blue background and several white boxes where people write their stories or FMLs on. On the top right hand of the page there is a list of the different categories one could read about. They go from sex, love, money, kids, and work to miscellaneous. One interesting thing about this site is the fact that the short stories have to begin with “Today” and end with “FML”.

But, who’s behind this uncommon site? Well, it was originated in France. The original site’s inception (viedemerde.fr) is all down to Maxime Valette’s work, assisted by Guillaume Passaglia for web development and implementation of new functions, and by Julien Azarian for the day-to-day community management. A group of administrators are also in charge of reading and validating all the submitted anecdotes. Now, Didier Guedj and a new team are working on the development of the English-language version.

If a user would like to contribute he has to submit his own story by clicking on the “Submit your FML” link in the menu at the top of the page. To be published, the story will have to be approved by their team.

The publication process has two consecutive parts. First, the FML the person sent will be put through the auto moderation system, where other users will vote on whether they want to story to be published on the site. If the submission gathers enough votes, the moderating team will then decide whether the story is worthy of being on the site. In order to approve an FML it should seem fresh, well written, and like it did really happen.

The site is gaining popularity and even radio shows like “The Morning Show” in Power96 radio station, discuss and talk about it. The hosts, DJ Laz and Ivy, talked about this particular case where a guy went to a club and got really drunk. He woke up next morning at 7 a.m and had 42 missed calls. That day was his wedding day! Everybody at the station started laughing and they all yelled at the same time “F my life!!”

So if you are bored at work or at home and have nothing better to do type in www.fmylife.com and get ready to read about the most facetious and ludicrous stories of the whole entire net. Get ready to read stories like this, “Today, I was driving home from work when I saw a cop come up behind me. Nervous about my expired license, I kept checking in my rear view mirror. In turn since I wasn’t paying attention, I ran a stop sign. Needless to say the cop pulled me over and gave me 2 tickets. FML ” or like this one, “Today, I decided to snack on some M&M’s. I saw my dog sniffing something and realized one of my M&M’s had fallen on the floor. To prevent my dog from eating the chocolate, I hurriedly snatched the M&M off the ground and ate it. When I bit down, I realized it wasn’t an M&M. It was a dead beetle. FMLThink your life is a mess? Think twice.

Second Draft-He Is Not That Into You Movie

February 25, 2009 · Leave a Comment

He is Just not That Into You is a heartwarming comedy that mixes romance and drama into one. It mainly focuses on the consequences of misreading and misinterpreting the signals that a man sends when not interested in a girl.

Gigi (Ginnifer Goodwin) is a young girl desperate to find true love and her soul mate. She meets along the way several men who are not interested on her, however, she decides to be oblivious to this fact and keeps harassing them until she gets tired and gives up.

Gigi’s friends, Beth (Jennifer Aniston) and Janine (Jennifer Connelly) are her safety net. They offer support and encouragement while, they themselves go through difficult times in their love relationships.

Even though the script didn’t required an extraordinary amount of talent the actors performed well. The movie had plenty of well known faces such as Jennifer Aniston (Beth), Scarlett Johanson (Ana), Ben Affleck (Neil), drew Barrymore (Mary) and Jennifer Connelly (Janine).

The latter one performed her role extraordinarily well. Her character was a cold, stoned faced; inexpressive woman whose husband felt obligated to marry her after receiving an ultimatum. Connelly knew how to move, talk and even gaze like the woman who has forgotten how to laugh and have a good time.

Ginnifer Goodwin receives two thumbs up. Her character was the narrator and the funny relief of the movie. Gigi is the air headed, romantic and gullible girl who spends hours in front of the phone waiting for her Prince Charming to call. She is so passionate about finding her soul mate that she scares men away until Conor (Kevin Connolly) shows up in her life and changes the way she approaches men and relationships.

The movie is a chick flick. It’s romantic, funny and witty. It reminds girls that guys don’t like to be harassed and the best way to make them fall head over heels for you is by not making them the center of your universe.

First Draft-He is just not that into You movie

February 23, 2009 · Leave a Comment

He is just not that into you is definitely a hilarious movie with some serious parts. It mainly deals with relationships and how women and men behave so different when it comes to finding (or keeping) a partner.

The movie portrays all the stereotypes associated to the romantic arena, the psycho girl waiting for a guy’s phone call, the middle aged woman who wants to get married after a long relationship, the always evasive male partner who doesn’t believe in marriage because marriage, according to him, is for insecure people, the player, the cheating husband, the virtual partner, the sexy mistress and finally, the oblivious wife.

Getting Ready to Win Second Draft

February 3, 2009 · 1 Comment

Guided by Rafael Jimenez, football coach at Miami Beach Senior High, the school team is working at full speed to excel in the next season.

The team has 30 players, 90% of them are underclassmen athletes. According to Jimenez they are all average players working on their abilities and skills. However, they still have time to improve until the end of high school year. So far, the potential best player and captain of the team is sophomore Haftid Trejos.

When asked how someone could become part of the football team, Jimenez answered, “Whoever wants to be part of the team has to participate in strength training workouts and never, ever miss practice under any circumstance.”

The Hi Tide training includes not only physical workout like bench press, squad and power clean but also a balanced diet, not skipping breakfast, absolute avoidance of junk food and getting good night rest. Also, their mental status and health is important. They have to have dedication, an optimistic overall view, good team work, great work ethic and a desire to learn the game.

Even though every year the teams with which our football team has to play against change, the biggest opponent and strongest team to defeat this season is Northwestern and Central. But our football team spirits are not low whatsoever. They keep training hard and focusing on the goal they have set for themselves, improve last season record.

“If we stay focus there is no reason for not having a winning season this year,” said captain Haftid Trejos.

Finally, Jimenez added, “I expect my team to give a 100% of them out there and they can expect from me 100% dedication.”
